Frequently asked questions about Impliancy.

Frequently asked questions about Impliancy.

General

What is Impliancy?

Impliancy is a governance platform for the Microsoft Power Platform. It automates inventory, compliance, inactivity monitoring, and ownership management across environments.

Does Impliancy replace the CoE Starter Kit?

Yes. Impliancy provides similar functionality but is fully automated, requires no manual updates, and works without premium licenses.

Do I need a Dataverse environment to use Impliancy?

Yes. Impliancy reads your Power Platform setup, and Dataverse environments are the basis for indexing artifacts.

Permissions

Why does the service principal need System Administrator rights?

Because Impliancy must read and manage all artifact metadata, ownership information, activity status, and environment-level settings. Lower roles are not sufficient.

Does Impliancy impersonate users?

No. All operations are performed by the service principal or the authenticated admin.

Compliance

Who needs to fill out compliance forms?

Owners (and deputies) of artifacts in environments where compliance checks are enabled.

How long is a compliance submission valid?

180 days.

Will I be notified about compliance tasks?

Yes, by email and in the in-app notification panel.

Inactivity

How does Impliancy detect inactivity?

By checking:

  • Last modified date (Apps, Bots, Desktop Flows)
  • Last successful run (Cloud Flows)

Can inactive artifacts be deleted automatically?

Yes, if an admin enables the "auto delete" option.

Multi-tenant (upcoming)

Can I manage multiple client tenants?

Yes. Service Provider Admins can switch between assigned client tenants.

Are tenants isolated?

Completely. No data is shared across tenants.

Uninstallation

How do I uninstall Impliancy?

Delete the enterprise application in Azure AD and remove the "App Impliancy" application user from every Dataverse environment. See Uninstalling Impliancy for more details.
