Monitoring and logs

Impliancy provides operational visibility through built-in monitoring tools, sync indicators, and audit logs.
This helps ensure your governance processes run smoothly and that issues are detected early.

What to monitor

1. Environment permissions

Each inventory run verifies whether the service principal has the required System Administrator role.

If permissions are missing:

  • The environment is marked with a warning
  • The environment is excluded from indexing
  • Compliance and inactivity checks pause for that environment

Admins should review these warnings regularly.

2. Inventory sync status

Inventory sync runs automatically and updates:

  • Artifacts
  • Owners
  • Deputies
  • Compliance statuses
  • Activity data

Monitor for signs of issues:

  • Missing artifacts
  • Stale data
  • Repeated sync failures

3. Compliance workflow status

Check for:

  • Forms requiring manual approval
  • Forms that expired
  • Forms approaching expiration

These indicators help maintain governance quality.

4. Inactivity monitoring

Review inactivity events:

  • Artifacts marked as inactive
  • Notifications sent
  • Auto deletion scheduled (if enabled)

5. Notifications panel

The Dashboard displays:

  • System events
  • Compliance events
  • Inactivity alerts
  • Ownership updates

These help you understand recent tenant-wide activity.

6. Audit logs

Use the audit log to review:

  • Who changed what
  • When ownership changed
  • When compliance forms were submitted
  • When environment settings were updated
  • When notifications were triggered

Audit logs are essential for security investigations or governance reviews.

Error handling

If Impliancy detects errors:

  • They appear on the dashboard
  • Environments with issues are flagged
  • Retry logic attempts self-recovery
  • Metadata remains consistent and never partially applied

Admins can investigate:

  • Incorrect service principal permissions
  • Missing environments
  • Misconfigured compliance rules
